unwanted stickiness

This is a random post considering that I haven’t written anything in a while. But if you have any suggestions I’d really appreciate your help for the following situation.

On Sunday, Lori called me (I was still in Chiang Mai) asking how to remove caramel/glue-like sticky stuff from our cat Bowie. It seemed that she got stuck in some glue that somebody had put out to catch rodents. I didn’t have a clue. Lori ended up taking the cat to the vet, who then said to apply cooking oil to the area and it should come off on it’s own.

Yesterday I got back to Mae Hong Son and tried to shampoo the area. I don’t know if it made any difference. So it’s Tuesday night and Bowie is NOT happy (we’ve had to keep her in the cage, only to let her out to go outside briefly now and then). I’m not convinced the vet knows the best thing to do and I really don’t what to do to help Bowie. So please offer suggestions!

Thanks for your help Gareth! I appreciate it! I gave her a bath this afternoon and I think the oil (that had previously been applied) helped. Will bathe her again tomorrow aft. Hope you’re well!
