last Saturday – my birthday

In case you don’t know, last Saturday was my 30th birthday! I had a great day with friends in the area and one who even came up from Chiang Mai for the weekend!

Throughout the day there was lots of good food to be had: steamed fish with a spicy, lime sauce; frog’s legs curry; stir-fried green beans; brownies; chocolate cake with peanut butter chocolate icing…

In the morning, I got up early and spent some good time in prayer, reading my Bible, writing in my journal and drinking coffee. Mid-morning I spoke with my family over Skype and after that I just hung out around the house opening the various cards, etc. that people sent to me. (Thanks to those of you who did!!) For lunch, my friend came and made us a yummy meal of Thai-yai food. In the late afternoon, a few of us went up to a water reserve/dam that gives you a good view of the valley of Mae Hong Son. We had a time to worship the Lord together, met some new friends (including a Shan guy and a girl from Quebec!) and, sort of, saw the sun set. The clouds were obstructing the view. 🙁 Earlier, during the worship the time, I was praying and afterwards we all looked up and there was a double rainbow! Wow!

All in all it was a really good day. Turning 30 isn’t so bad – now that I’m here. 🙂
