As I type this, my sister, Rachel, is currently running in the Boston Marathon! She qualified last spring and has been training over the winter through sun, wind, rain, hail, snow, more snow, freezing rain and even more snow. I’m so impressed with her perseverance and I’m really proud of her! My Mom, two Aunts and a couple of good friends all went down to form “Rachel’s Crew” and cheer her on in Boston! I’m sad I can’t be there too!
I can sort of track her status here (at the Boston Athletic Association) and can watch the race live at WSCN.com (although you have to sign up for a free account to watch it there; search for Boston Marathon and click ‘watch now’; then once another screen pops up it seems you have to keep clicking on the ‘Boston Marathon Live’ option to the left, under “Featured Events”). I don’t think there’s much of a chance of seeing Rachel on the live broadcast as they’re really only focusing on the elite runners – which of course makes sense. Even so, maybe you’ll see my Mom and Aunts along the side of the road cheering the runners… Lance Armstrong is apparently running the Boston Marathon this year – maybe you’ll see him. Who knows?
Please pray that she’d have an injury free race! Go Rachel!!!
