OC started today and DH started off this morning with a very encouraging message about Abraham and his calling to be a blessing to the nations (Gen. 12:1-3). He was saying that there wasn’t anything about Abraham that God chose him, of all people, to be a blessing to all nations. He didn’t come from a God-fearing family. He didn’t always trust in God and often doubted Him. But God chose Him to “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blwessing. I will bless those who bless you and him who dishonours you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
In the same way, the Lord has chosen us/me for whatever reason(s)… Sometimes I can’t make sense of it but I know that God’s ways are bigger than our/my ways. Like in Jeremiah (1:4-5), the Lord chose me before I was born, before I was formed in my mother’s womb He knew me and consecrated me to do this… To be a light and witness among the Thai-yai and whatever else He wants me to do. And so I follow – with a little fear, but confidence in the Lord.
